The Terra Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 is a destination unlike anywhere else in the world. It is a project with a distinct attitude and form of engagement that sets it apart in Dubai, the UAE, and internationally.
The experience predominantly frames “sustainability” as a relationship between humanity and the natural world, rather than a set of technologies or model systems. It will take the visitor on a an adventurous journey that combines humour, excitement, wonder, reflection and realisation in an orchestral experience of rising and falling emotion.
Under the Forest & Under the Ocean are two sections to this pavilion which visitors experience via descending ramps into immersive environments that take them on a journey of dawning realisations of scale, wonder and connection, as visitors descend into the sensory and visceral worlds of a “theatrical” ocean and forest.
The key interpretations for the Under the Ocean zone provides the visitor with the understanding that the ocean is alive, sensing, communicating and aware. All life came from the ocean, and a journey into the wonders of the ocean is a journey into our past. The oceans are vital to the health of the world we live in.
This message will be shared at the start of the ocean experience, framing the journey as an experience through the life and awareness of the underwater world, the ways organisms sense their surroundings, collaborate with each other, communicate with each other, and the mysteries they still hold for us.
Project was a joint venture between Lighting Design Collective - Madrid and La Luz
